Welcome to our Book Club Blog!!

We now have a blog for our book club. I hope you like the name of it. We can use this blog to decide on the books we read, date of the meetings and where. We can also post links to questions, keep our running book list, and lots more. As we go along, we can make changes and decide what is the best way to use this. The main hope is that this will eliminate the endless e-mails to our indecisiveness!!

2009 final book

Sorry for not doing this sooner....but, there appears to still be interest in having a book club. And if people are interested, we could plan one final get together before the end of the year.

Here are my thoughts...If we pick a new, somewhat short book, we could meet in right before Thanksgiving (Sat Nov 21 or Sun Nov 22) . If that weekend doesn't work, we could always pick a weeknight evening, which might be more flexible, especially if we pick the date in advance.

Books with less than 200 pages

http://lazyreaders.com/pages/?length=126-200

Here are two books I found quickly:

Night 128 pages
Animal Farm - 140 pages

Any other suggestions? How is the date? Do we actually what to do this before the end of the year?

Thanks DM! I was just thinking about Book Club this morning actually. :)

It would be great to have 1 more gathering before the end of the year. Unfortunately, I will be headed to Chicago Nov. 20-21 for T-giving...but if it works for everyone, please pick it.

If we go with a different date, how about a more "uplifting" book for the holidays? This one caught my eye on the lists DM's posted:
"Holidays on Ice: Stories"

I could do a meeting before the end of the year. I'm flexible on date.

I read "Night". It's amazing, powerful, and devastatingly sad.

I vote for "Animal Farm" or "The Old Man and the Sea". Both are classics.

I love David Sedaris, but I've listened to "Holidays on Ice". I don't think it's his best stuff, and I don't know if it would lend itself to much discussion. But I'll follow the group's lead on the book choice.

Hope to see everyone soon!

I am also really interested in book club before the end of the year. Open to an evening after work if that is better for most people. Dinner and book club sounds like a good combination to me.

I've read Night, Animal Farm and The Old Man and the Sea.
Night was rough, but important. Love, love, love Animal Farm.
